successfully fulfilled roles in Construction Management Medium Density Projects and High-end Custom Homes, Project Management and Contract Administration, National Works and Compliance Manager leading a team to deliver all unit turn-over and Capital Works Projects in the Retirement Village Division for Stockland before starting Kustom Living.

Experience matters, with over 35 years working in the construction industry, Damien brings a wealth of knowledge having successfully overseen countless projects, working in Construction Leadership roles from Residential Homes to large-scale Developments. With a proven track record working for Australand, Stockland RL for 9 years and Sienna Homes. His dedication in roles such as Construction Management, Project Management, National Quality Assurance Delivery Management, he stands behind our promise of delivering exceptional outcomes and results. His expertise, leadership and dedication to every project makes him an asset to our team.
Steve Balmforth
Construction Supervisor – Unit Renovations & Capex – Director
Steve excels in Project Planning and execution. Ensuring every detail is carefully considered from budgets and timelines to logistics and safety protocols. With extensive experience in the Construction Industry, Steve joined Kustom Living as Co-Owner in 2017. His leadership sets the tone for our Company, ensuring each project is executed with precision, innovation, and an unwavering dedication to quality. Prior to joining Kustom Living, Steve ran his own successful carpentry business building new Retirement Villages, Custom Homes & Developments.
Simon Ciavarella
Building Supervisor – Unit Renovations & Capex
Simon is a trade perfectionist. Simon stands behind our commitment to delivering projects with precision, efficiency and unwavering dedication. His expertise in overseeing trades and ensuring onsite excellence makes him a trusted choice alongside our clients. Simon has worked in his own Construction business delivering Unit Renovations and Capex Projects in the Retirement Sector before being recruited by Stockland, holding positions as Capex Project Manager and Quality Assurance Delivery Manager prior to joining the Kustom Living Team. Simon’s friendly approach and communication skills make him a great fit in the retirement environment, he is often seen having a chat and laugh with residents and village teams.
Andrew Johnson
Estimating Manager – Partner
With 20 years of experience in Construction Estimating, Andrew stands behind our commitment to delivering accurate and reliable estimates for all our projects. Having previously worked at Australand, Frasers Property and then Stockland Retirement Living for nearly a decade. Working nationally across Cost Planning, Procurement, Estimating and Unit Turn-over. Andrew’s attention to detail and dedication to each project puts our clients at ease, ensuring they have a clear understanding of the project costs from the outset.

With several years of experience in Construction Office Management after a career in Hotel Management and Accounts, Verena is the organisational heartbeat of our operations. Her expertise in streamlining administrative processes, managing finances, and ensuring seamless project coordination makes her a crucial part of our team.
